Revision of Directive 2004/37/EC – carcinogens or mutagens at work

Directive 2004/37/EC (CMR Directive) protects workers against health and safety risks from exposure to carcinogens or mutagens at work. Amongst various other materials, Alumino Silicate Wool (Refractory Ceramic Fibres, RCF) are included in the scope of the review.

Long term study of pulmonary function among US refractory ceramic fibre workers

Cross-sectional studies have shown declines in lung function among refractory ceramic fibre (RCF) workers with increasing fibre exposure. The study done by McKay et al. followed current and former workers (n=1396) for up to 17 years and conducted 5243 pulmonary function tests.
