ECFIA CARE Guidance library

Guidance documents on “Waste disposal” and “Removal” have been added to ECFIA´s CARE Guidance library. The library´s 20 documents have been written by industry experts and are designed to give customers of ECFIA members’ helpful information to put in place effective controls to minimise exposure to airborne fibres.

ECFIA brochure

To inform interested stakeholders about ECFIA, a new brochure has been produced which includes information on the types of HTIW and where they are used, the CARE and PSP programmes, as well as on toxicological and scientific studies related to HTIW.

“ECFIA Action”: Passive exposure to HTIW

Recognising the need to quantify passive exposure to fibrous dust during worker activities, ECFIA has undertaken further investigations to examine situations where individuals are working in areas where HTIW products are contained within a closed process, or HTIW products are installed but are not being worked on. New CARE Guidance documents online

ECFIA has published two new Level 3 documents on its CARE Guidance website, which explain how to control/reduce dust emission and worker exposure when using particular types of machinery.

Fibre toxicology

Driven by knowledge of the health effects of asbestos, extensive research has been conducted to evaluate the potential toxicity of many fibrous materials, including HTIW. Read more »

Participation in “10. German Dangerous Substances Safety Award” competition

ECFIA is participating in the “10. German Dangerous Substances Safety Award” competition. This competition, initiated by BAuA, the German Federal Institute for Occupational Safety and Health, rewards ideas and initiatives that improve occupational safety when handling dangerous substances.

New CARE Guidance documents online

The CARE Guidance documents represent ECFIA´s extensive expertise on the safe handling and use of HTIW products, gained through the CARE programme. Three new documents – on Module Manufacturing, Saws, and Raw Material Feeding – have been compiled by our occupational hygienists and are now available online.

BOHS Occupational Hygiene Conference poster presentation summary

On April 23-25, the 2013 British Occupational Hygienists Society celebrated its 60th anniversary with its annual conference at Manchester. The programme offered a full three days of scientific, professional and practical workshop sessions, an exhibition of suppliers of services and equipment and a scientific poster display. This year ECFIA was part of the scientific programme with a poster on “CARE can help REACH control”.
