European Commission publishes proposal for the revision of the Carcinogens Directive

On 13th May the European Commission published its proposal for the revision of the Carcinogens Directive, containing a BOELV for ASW/RCF of 0,3 f/ml. The proposal is based on scientific evidence and follows broad discussions with scientists, employers, workers, Member States’ representatives and labour inspectors, and follows the recommendation made by SCOEL in October 2010.

Cross-industry recommendations for better regulation in chemicals management

At the beginning of 2015, a group of European industry associations came together to exchange their experiences and the lessons learned from the REACH process. The result is a position paper that includes various recommendations for improved regulation of chemicals.

Joint industry position paper on risk management options (RMO)

(Zirconia) Alumino Silicate RCF has been included in ECHA’s 5th recommendation for inclusion on REACH Annex XIV and may be subject to authorisation if confirmed by the European Commission. In parallel, following the SCOEL recommendation in 2011 (SCOEL/SUM/165), a proposal for a Europe wide binding occupational exposure limit value (BOELV) is being developed under the Carcinogens and Mutagens Directive (CMD).
